Brazil's elimination from the 2026 World Cup will not alter the Brazilian Football Confederation's plans for Carlo Ancelotti. Rodrigo Caetano, executive director of the national teams, confirmed on Saturday that the Italian coach will remain at the helm until the 2030 World Cup.

"Now it's up to us to emphasize the need for a normal cycle, with a bit more calm and with work that will continue with Ancelotti until the 2030 World Cup, making the necessary adjustments. Let's have at least some peace of mind to move forward and prepare for the next World Cup," Caetano stated.

He acknowledged the disappointment of the elimination but affirmed that the work Ancelotti has developed in recent months reinforces the federation's confidence in continuing the project.

"Obviously, we are still picking up the pieces; we are all very sad, disappointed, and disheartened – the players, the staff, the coaching team. On the other hand, we cannot diminish the period we spent together, especially these 38 days, when the players and all of us, as well as you, had the opportunity to witness their dedication and professionalism. From the first day to the last," he added.

The director highlighted the evolution of the "Seleção" during the World Cup and expressed regret over the elimination precisely at a moment when he believed the team was best prepared.

"Indeed, because of everything the team achieved in terms of growth during the tournament, and I think today, in many moments, they again showed good football, this elimination hurts even more because we were knocked out in a phase where we had everything needed to advance. Our goal was always to reach the final, and even with a cycle that wasn't ideal, due to the work done over the past year, we had hope," the boss said.

Ancelotti took over the Brazilian national team in 2025, after the end of his tenure at Real Madrid, and led the team through the entire final phase of the qualifiers and at the 2026 World Cup. With Rodrigo Caetano's confirmation, the Italian will remain in charge of the "Seleção" throughout the next cycle, with a focus on the 2030 World Cup.
