Chelsea defender signs one year contract extension
Chelsea right-back Branislav Ivanovic has signed a one year contract extension that will keep him in Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2017.
The Serbian defender joined Chelsea in a £9m deal in the 2008 January transfer window.
The 31-year-old defender has won two Premier League titles, three FA Cup trophies, a League Cup, Europa League and a UEFA Champions League with Chelsea.
"I am very happy to stay with Chelsea for another season. After eight years here this is my home and there is no other place I would rather play football," Ivanovic told Chelsea official website.
"I have enjoyed so much success since moving to the club and I am determined to help the team achieve more in the last months of this season and next year as well."
Chelsea interim boss Guus Hiddink says the defender is an important and one of the main characters in the team.
"I knew him from my spell in Russia where he played in Moscow. He has become one of the key members of the first team and the squad," Hiddink said.
"I think he's back to where he once was."
