Meanwhile, Howe's former team is in fine form and has a genuine chance of qualifying for European competition. Furthermore, Bournemouth is unbeaten in their last 13 league matches and has now secured a second consecutive 2-1 away victory, following their win against league leaders Arsenal.

Left-back Adrian Truffer netted the winning goal for the Cherries five minutes before the end of regular time, capitalizing on an assist from Evanilson.

Earlier, the visitors had taken a 1-0 lead through Marcus Tavernier in the 32nd minute. Newcastle managed to equalize with William Osula in the 68th minute. Initially, the Dane's goal was disallowed for offside, but VAR intervention showed that Evanilson of Bournemouth was the last player to touch the ball before the pass to the striker.
