Mavin Records first lady, Tiwa Savage really does know how to take a bold step. The Pop songstress has signed up for her TV debut, grabbing a role in ‘Shuga’, the award-winning TV drama. She is to interprete a role, playing ‘Sade’, the glamorus owner of Badoo Tree nightclub.
Tiwa’s not alone on this one. Also taking the bold step into the movies is Shuga’ will also feature Beat FM DJ and Morning Rush host Maria Okanrende who plays Foye – an ambitious radio and club DJ with a domineering mother.
Other Popular actors are ‘’ actor Dorcas Fapson and Tinsel star Chris Attoh. Dorcas plays Sophie – a failing student who’s not averse to using her body to get what she wants. While Attoh is a domineering husband named Kofi.
Other key cast members include: Adeyemi Okanlawon (David) – a handsome medical student; ‘Dear Mother‘ child star Sharon Chisom Ezeamaka (Princess) – Sophie’s naïve teenage sister; James Timini Egbuson (Tobi) – a conscientious student; Kachi Nnochiri (Osaro) – PA and ‘Mr Fixit’ to a corrupt businessman; Leonora Okine (Malaika) – Sophie’s married friend; and Olumide Oworu (Weki) – Sade’s 16-year old nephew.
Filming starts on location in and around Lagos this week and the drama has the directing artistry of Biyi Bandele.
