After winning the women's 100m race in this season's opener at the Doha and Shanghai Diamond Leagues, Nigerian sprinter, Blessing Okagbare has set a target to be number one in the world.
The Delta State born athlete finished the race in 10.98 seconds beating the likes of Tori Bowie and Jamaican Olympic champion Shelly-Anne Fraser-Pryce.
Speaking after her Shanghai win, Okagbare said she wants to continue working hard to become number one in the world.
“I feel, I think and I hope I can end in the number one spot,” Okagbare said.
“I’m working towards it. I hope it happens.”
Speaking on her Shanghai win, Okagbare said her confidence will be boosted to achieve her aim of becoming number one.
“It does give me confidence but it doesn’t change anything. There are a lot of talented people out there, like me, so I just have to keep working hard. I don’t want to be left behind.
“A performance like that gives me a little edge and a bit of confidence but I still have to put more work in and keep pushing forward.”
