The Italian Aprilia rider, who proved dominant on Lombok Island a year ago, clinched top spot with a lap time of 1:30.132. That put him 0.237 seconds clear of world champion Marc Marquez, while championship leader Jorge Martin completed the top three, finishing 0.266s behind his Aprilia teammate.

Pedro Acosta secured fourth place, 0.294s off the pace, with Raul Fernandez rounding out the top five (+0.402s). The remainder of the top 10 at the end of the opening 45-minute Mandalika session included Franco Morbidelli, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Fabio Quartararo, last year's race winner Fermin Aldeguer, and his Gresini Ducati teammate Alex Marquez.

The session was interrupted by three crashes, starting 14 minutes in when Diogo Moreira went down at Turn 1. Ai Ogura later suffered a high-speed fall at nearly 200 km/h at Turn 8, and Aldeguer also took a spill at Turn 1. Fortunately, all three riders escaped unhurt and were able to return to the track on their second bikes.

Action at the Indonesian Grand Prix, Round 17 of the 2026 MotoGP season, continues with the crucial 60-minute Practice session, which will decide the top 10 riders advancing directly to Q2 in tomorrow's qualifying.
