A few years ago, caller tunes was introduced into Nigeria.
Since then, this value added service, also known as ring back tones, has gained a lot of popularity.
While this is might seem trivial to most people, this service is also a huge money maker.
Audu Maikori, founder of music production house Chocolate City, acknowledges it's money making ability by revealing that these tunes make about 10% of his company's total revenue.
Speaking to CNNMoney, Maikori called these tunes, "a phenomenon," adding that these help to give some recognition to the Nigerian music industry on a huge scale.
"You go to , you go to you go to they're playing Nigerian music," he said.
Maikori is an entrepreneur with a vision to provide entertainment solutions.
He recently stepped down as the CEO of Chocolate City Music, after 10 years.
