Bollywood star attacked for 'dressing indecently as a Muslim'

Bollywood star, Gauahar Khan, was attacked by a man, Akil Malik, who accused the TV presenter of dressing indecently.

Khan was invited to host the grand finale of a singing competition at the Film City in Goregaon, Mumbai; the man somehow evaded security and stormed out of the audience to attack the TV personality, slapping her hard on the face.

He was arrested and charged with molestation after threatening and then assaulting Khan live on air.

According to Mumbai police, 24-year-old Akil Malik said that Khan should not have dressed in such a short dress as a Muslim woman.

Despite the attack, a shaken Gauaher Khan still managed to return to set to continue with her job.

Malik has been charged with molestation and will appear in Boriwali Court.

Khan has acted in about half a dozen films and was appreciated for her role in Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. She won Big Boss, the Indian version of reality TV show Big Brother, in 2013.
