Super Falcons star calls out FIFA for snubbing women at Best Awards

At the FIFA organised Best Football Awards on Monday, October 23, awards were given to 11 men’s players who made FIFPro Team of the Year

There was no women’s version of the FIFPro at the ceremony much to the disappointment of  Oshoala.

“Dear @FIFAcom , some of us think it would be more interesting to have Women Best11 just like that of the men. Please feed us something NEW,” the Dalian Quanjian F.C player wrote on her Twitter.

The night was dominated by men won won the Fair Play and Puskas awards.

There was, however, awards for women as Sarina Wiegman won the Best Women’s Coach of the Year award for leading her native country Netherlands to the UEFA Women’s EURO 2017 title on home soil.

It was also one of Wiegman’s player, Lieke Martens that won the Women’s Player of the Year award.

Martens was voted Player of the Tournament after leading Netherlands to the UEFA Women’s EURO 2017 title.

She scored three goals and provided two assists as Netherlands won the title on home soil.
