Arsenal plot January swoop for Champions League sensation Nicolo Tresoldi

Arsenal are weighing up a January swoop for Club Brugge forward Nicolo Tresoldi. Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is actively exploring new attacking options after £63.5m summer signing Viktor Gyökeres endured a difficult start in front of goal, failing to score in his opening eight appearances this season.

In stark contrast, 22-year-old Tresoldi has enjoyed a sensational campaign for the Belgian outfit. The Germany Under-21 international has already registered nine goals in 12 matches across all competitions, with his Champions League form turning heads across Europe. He struck four times in just two European outings, netting in a 3-2 home defeat to Aston Villa before delivering a sensational hat-trick in a famous 4-3 victory over Inter Milan at San Siro.

The Gunners are confident their strong relationship with the Belgian champions could facilitate a deal in the winter window, having signed Greek attacker Christos Tzolis from Brugge for £35m last summer. Tresoldi and Tzolis formed a lethal partnership in Belgium last season, finishing as the league's top two marksmen—the German led the charts with 19 goals in 40 matches, while Tzolis followed closely with 17 in 36 appearances.

However, widespread interest is driving up Tresoldi's price tag. Brugge knocked back a £30m offer from AS Roma in August, and the Belgian side are now understood to value their prized asset in the region of £42m.

Both Milan clubs have also joined the race for the talented forward. AC Milan are showing serious interest and could hold an edge given that Tresoldi is a boyhood Rossoneri supporter, while Inter Milan are monitoring him closely after witnessing his prowess first-hand.

Alongside his club future, Tresoldi faces a defining international decision. Born in Cagliari, Italy, before relocating to Hannover, the forward has represented Germany across youth ranks, scoring 19 goals in 35 caps. Both the German and Italian football associations remain locked in a tug-of-war to secure his long-term senior commitment.
