Arrested Badr Hari (41) Releases Statement: 'Not an Accurate Representation of the Facts'
Amsterdam police have accused Hari of threats and insults. In a written statement released through his lawyer, Cem Polat, to the Algemeen Dagblad, Hari stated that 'the arrest stems from a protracted dispute with his ex-wife regarding the upbringing of their children.' He also asserted that there was 'no physical violence,' despite not even being suspected of that particular offense. Hari maintains his innocence regarding the accusations of threats and insults as well.
‘Badr Hari vehemently denies the allegations against him and emphasizes that they do not accurately reflect the facts,’ the official statement reads. 'Out of respect for his children, their mother, and the integrity of the proceedings, he does not intend to comment publicly on the details of this private family matter.'
'He did this calmly'
What exactly transpired in Amsterdam surrounding his arrest remains undisclosed by Hari and his lawyer. He 'did not comply with a police request' and subsequently went to the police station on his own accord to give his account, according to the statement. ‘He did this calmly, has fully cooperated with the investigation from the outset, and will continue to do so to ensure the facts can be accurately established.’
