The former MotoGP championship leader fractured his collarbone in a qualifying incident at the German Grand Prix, just before the summer break. The injury forced him out of both races at the Sachsenring, and Bezzecchi underwent surgery shortly thereafter.

Aprilia had consistently expressed hope that Bezzecchi would be able to return for the British Grand Prix after the summer hiatus. The race weekend in the UK, scheduled for August 7-9, will mark the start of the second half of the premier class season.

On Thursday evening, the team released new information about the Italian, who successfully completed a training session on an Aprilia RCV4 motorcycle at the Misano circuit as part of his rehabilitation program.

Aprilia's brief statement read: "Dear media, yesterday [Wednesday, July 29] Marco Bezzecchi completed a four-session run with his RCV4 at the Misano circuit. His rehabilitation program is progressing as planned."

Bezzecchi's injury came at the end of a rather turbulent period for him in the first half of the season. Following his victory at the Italian Grand Prix in May, Bezzecchi has not scored points in a Sunday race.

He was taken out of the Hungarian race in a mass collision at the first corner, triggered by his teammate Jorge Martin. Subsequently, the Italian was penalized and barred from participating in the Czech Republic after hitting a marshal following a sprint race crash.

His return for the Dutch Grand Prix ended in disappointment when he crashed early in the main race, before sustaining a collarbone fracture in qualifying in Germany. Thus, from a championship leader, Bezzecchi plummeted to fourth place in the standings, 22 points behind his teammate Martin.

In addition to the collarbone surgery, Bezzecchi also underwent a procedure to clean a knee wound sustained in the Sachsenring incident.

Bezzecchi and Aprilia are hopeful that the Italian will be given the green light to race at Silverstone, where he secured his first victory with the Noale-based manufacturer last year.
