Another Premier League player sanctioned over betting breaches

Everton forward Martin Sherif has been fined £5,000 by the Football Association for breaching betting rules.

The 20-year-old striker admitted to 61 breaches concerning bets placed between 20 November 2024 and 12 February 2026. However, Sherif maintained that he did not place the wagers personally, but rather allowed them to be placed on his behalf, violating FA regulations.

The player was initially charged back in August, with the sanction now formally issued.

An independent Regulatory Commission took into account his early admission, full cooperation throughout the investigation, and remorse before deciding on the financial penalty.

Sherif joined Everton's academy in 2019 but has yet to make a competitive senior appearance for the club. The Dutch youth international spent time on loan at Rotherham United and Port Vale last season.
