Team Nigeria Powerlifters have vowed to win 10 goal medals for Nigeria at the on-going All-Africa Games taking place in Congo Brazzaville.
Speaking to Complete Sports, Technical Director of the Nigeria Powerlifting Federation, Samuel Ekeoma expressed confidence that the athlete will win many goal medals at the games.
"We have no fewer than five world record holders in the powerlifting event here in Congo," Ekeoma said.
"I'm talking about the likes of in the 88kg category, in 41kg, (65kg), (54kg) and (86+).
"We hope to win gold medals to appreciate the Director General of the National Sports Commission, who has ensured a new hope for Powerlifting as a sport and Powerlifters," he said.
Powerlifting Federation of Nigeria Coach, Prince Feyisetan Are, said his team is targeting 10 medals.
"There are 20 gold medals available in powerlifting. My target is to win at least 10, but if things go our way, we can go home with 12," he said.
Classification of lifters will take place on Saturday, September 12 before the Powerlifting event will kick off on on Monday September 14.
