Latest reports out of Britain have it that Arsenal and Liverpool have finally agreed on a £40m fee for the transfer of midfielder, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

This is coming after the midfielder rejected a move to Chelsea. It was reported on Monday, August 28, 2017, that the Premiere League Champions and Arsenal had agreed on a £35m fee for Chamberlain.

It's reported that he will sign a six-year contract with the Anfield giant with personal terms yet to be sorted out.

Arsene Wenger has consistently deployed the midfielder as a left wing-back in his now preferred 3-4-3 formation. Meanwhile, Chamberlain hasn't kept secret his desire to play in his most preferred central midfield position, a call Wenger has continued to ingore.

The midfielder, reportedly frustrated by this development, has been pushing for a move away from the club since the opening of this summer's transfer window.

Chamberlain has a year left on his current Arsenal contract, and he has refused to sign an extension with the London club.

He had crunch talks with Wenger last week but rejected a final contract offer worth £180,000-a-week and made his intentions to leave clear.

He is one of the players who have consistently been linked with a move away from the club.

On Tuesday, August 29, Arsenal purportedly rejected a £50m plus Raheem Sterling bid from Premiere League rival Manchester City for the sale of Chilean forward Alexis Sanches. Defender, Shkodran Mustafi is also on his way to join Italian club Inter Milan as reported by some media houses.

With this looming exodus of players at Arsenal, the club may be heading for a tough campaign in the PL this season as early results have already exposed their lack of squad depth.
