Iwobi took to Twitter after the game to express his delight at his goal.
“Happy To Get My 1st International Competitive Debut Start & International Competitive Goal For My Country As Well As A Win,” the 20-year-old wrote on Twitter.
Iwobi made his competitive debut for Nigeria in March 2016 in Super Eagles 1-1 home draw with Egypt in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
He scored his first Super Eagles goal in a friendly 3-0 win over Nigerian local side,.
The win over Zambia gives Nigeria three points, leading Group B in the World Cup qualifiers ahead of Algeria and Cameroon.
