Coach, Maurice Cooreman optimistic after Charity Cup win

Since taking over the club, Cooreman has seen his side beat Enyimba on penaltiesas the game finished goalless after 90 minutes.

The 2015 Federation Cup winners have been in-form heading into the new season.

They beat the likes of Warri Wolves and Nasarawa and played a draw with Enyimba to win the Super Four tournament organised by the League Management Company.

They also beat Vita Club Mokanda of Congo 1-0 in Pointe Noir in a CAF Confederation Cup first round, first leg match.

Akwa United's Belgian coach, said his team are the team to beat in the NPFL.

They will travel to face Sunshine Stars in the opening week of the NPFL 2016 season.
