Lagos governor reveals 30-year strategic master plan for improving traffic

Yesterday, November 12th, he commissioned the Mile 12-Ikorodu BRT Extension and launching of new BRT buses.

Speaking at the event, Governor Ambode said that his administration was committed to faithfully addressing traffic congestion and improving public transportation in the state.

He went on to reveal the state's 30-year strategic master plan for improving traffic, adding that this plan was being implemented.

"Our administration is committed to deal with issues of traffic congestion and bringing comfort and convenience to commuters in Lagos state.

"The BRT system is initiated as part of a strategy to modernise the public transport system as we have it in many parts of the world.

"The 30-year strategic master plan involves six rail lines, 13 BRT corridors, three cubical corridors and 26 developed water roots.’"

Guests included Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and APC National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

This comes after The Economist criticised Governor Ambodeby saying he is "full of excuses, but few solutions, for the worsening gridlock."

Lagos government has responded by  asking the UK magazine to "restrict itself to strict journalism rather than seeking to impose jaded views."
