The Japanese rider missed the last two rounds in Aragon and San Marino due to a thumb injury on his left hand. He returned for the Austrian round, initially receiving permission to participate only in the opening 45 minutes, after which he was required to report back to the medical team.

Doctors found no issues with Ogura's condition and subsequently cleared him to continue throughout the race weekend. In the first free practice, the Japanese rider, who was recently a title contender, finished 19th, 1.404 seconds behind the fastest rider, Pedro Acosta.
