French newspaper depicts weeping Prophet Muhammad in new cover after attack on its office

French satirical weekly newspaper, Charlie Hebdo which was last week attacked by Islamist militants in response to a number of controversial Muhammad cartoons it published, is not backing down at all.

According toreports, the cover of this week's edition of Charlie Hebdo will show a cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad holding a "Je suis Charlie" sign  with the caption “All is Forgiven” written above the cartoon.

The newspaper’s Paris office was raided by Islamist gunmen last week killing 12 people including the editor Stéphane "Charb" Charbonnier, 7 other Charlie Hebdo employees, and 2 National Police officers, and wounded 11 others.

Charlie Hebdo had attracted attention for its depictions of Muhammad, the founder of Islam.

The latest cover of the newspaper has been published by French media and other top news platforms in the world like Washington Post, Germany's , in Italy, The Guardian and among publications.

As at Tuesday, January 13, three million copies of this week’s edition of the paper which will be on sale from Wednesday, January 13 have been printed.

The French newspaper normally sells only 60,000 each week but has increased it due to the world wide attention the magazine has received in the wake of the attack on its Paris office.

Survivors of the massacre have been working on the magazine from the offices of the French daily newspaper Liberation.

Charlie Hebdo's lawyer Richard Malka in an interview with France Info radio said: "We will not give in. The spirit of 'I am Charlie' means the right to blaspheme."
