Burkina Faso reached the knockout stages via a drawing of lots after finishing level on points with Sudan in the group stage.

They however made most of their chances while Nigeria were wasteful in front of goal and paid the price for such wastefulness.

The Burkinables were very physical in the opening minutes which Samson Siasia forced Nigeria to make two changes as a result of injuries.
