Adeyemi at Camp Nou: "Yamal and I can work together brilliantly"

Barcelona's new forward, Karim Adeyemi, shared his initial thoughts on his transfer, which was finalized today. He joins from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of €22 million plus €7 million in add-ons. The 24-year-old gave his first interview to the Spanish media. Here's what he had to say on various topics:

Expectations
Very high. I believe I'm joining the best and biggest club in the world. It's an honor for me. I hope to show everyone that I'm here to help.

Hansi Flick
He's the main reason I'm here. We spoke a lot. He trusts me. He told me what he expects from me, and I'm coming with the desire to help the team achieve its goals. We had a long conversation at the beginning, but I didn't ask him what position he plans to use me in. The most important thing for me is the trust he has placed in me. He told me this is a huge step, that this is the biggest club in the world, and he asked if I was ready. I told him I was. And I'm ready to give my best.

The Champions League
I think the Champions League is very important, but at this club, every match is important. I'd like to win all possible trophies, and the Champions League is the most prestigious among them. I'll do everything I can to help us win it.

Preferred Position
Personally, I've played and feel comfortable in every attacking position. My only desire is to help the team.

The Call from Barcelona and Idols
When I found out, I couldn't believe it. My last season wasn't my best, and I'm extremely grateful. Flick was a key figure. He told me: "I want you to come, but you have to give your all." That's exactly what I intend to do. My idols? Obviously Messi. I also really liked Ronaldinho…"

Lamine Yamal
I don't know him personally, but his actions on the field speak for themselves. He's an incredible footballer. I think we can understand each other perfectly. I'm the type of player who attacks from deep and benefits from his passes. I hope we build a very good understanding, as well as with the others.

Many Young Players in the Squad
First, I need to learn Spanish, but I won't have a problem because I'm good with languages. They are great footballers. I hope to quickly gel with them. I'm sure something good will come of it, and we'll soon find common ground on the pitch. Flick explained to me that everyone here is like a family, very close-knit, and that will help. It's impressive that Barcelona has so many players in the national team that won the World Cup. That will certainly motivate them to win more trophies.

The Change in Life
It's an honor for me to be here. This is a huge step forward because this is the best club in the world. It's true that this is a new city for me, but my goal is football and to help the team."

Why is Barcelona the best club in the world?
Because it's a historic club. Ever since I was a child, I've associated it with incredible footballers. Furthermore, it has a special connection with Catalonia and the Catalans. Since I arrived, they've already explained to me that Catalonia is not the same as the rest of Spain.
