Israel Adesanya has no intention of stepping away from the octagon, despite suffering his fourth consecutive loss in the UFC. The former UFC Middleweight Champion was defeated by Joe Pyfer in the main event of UFC Seattle, but this setback hasn't led him to consider retirement – quite the opposite. The defiant Adesanya congratulated Pyfer on a job well done after a dynamic, back-and-forth bout that ultimately ended in Pyfer's favor. While the outcome certainly wasn't what he desired, Adesanya didn't hesitate when asked about his next steps.
"You keep going again, and again, and again, and again," Adesanya declared. "I'm not going anywhere. You'll never stop me. I might be defeated, but I will always remain undefeated."
Before the stoppage, Adesanya appeared to be in his familiar form, landing several heavy strikes on Pyfer while punishing his lead leg with a series of nasty calf kicks. It seemed Adesanya had Pyfer in trouble with his dominant striking, and his confidence was growing. However, everything changed when Pyfer took the fight to the ground, nearly submitting him with a choke before ultimately overwhelming him with ground and pound.
"I expected the best Joe Pyfer," Adesanya said of his opponent. "I knew this was his biggest fight and that he would give his best, and he did. There were no surprises. I expected the best, and he showed it. As I told him at the weigh-ins, I was given a chance, now it's my turn to give him a chance, and he earned it, and he did great. So, congratulations to Joe Pyfer," he added.
This loss brings Adesanya's record to 0-4 in his last four fights, with three of those ending in knockout or submission. Despite the results, UFC CEO Dana White praised Adesanya's performance and didn't seem to be considering a difficult conversation with the former champion about his future.
"He looked good," White said of Adesanya. "He looked fast. He was using angles. I think he looked great. For Pyfer, coming in as number 14 and beating Israel Adesanya, that's pretty impressive," White added.
