Adam Levine Is Producing Another Musical Reality Show

Unlike the last decade or so of singing competitions, however, Songland will focus on the act of songwriting-which means we may be getting a more interesting inside look at the creative process, and fewer sob stories and fame-hungry contestants.

Devised as a huge career opportunity for up-and-coming talent, each week will see songwriters work with mentors from the music industry and debut new material to an international audience. The winner of each episode will have the chance to hear their song recorded by a famous special guest artist.

The panel of music industry experts overseeing the contstants will include: Pitch Perfect star Ester Dean, who wrote Whats My Name for Rihanna, Firework for Katy Perry, and Super Bass for Nicki Minaj; OneRepublic lead singer Ryan Tedder, who has worked with Beyonc, Adele and Taylor Swift; and Grammy-winning country music hit-maker Shane McAnally.

The concept behind Songland was thought up by Dave Stewart, co-founder of the Eurythmics, along with Audrey Morrissey and Ivan Dudnysky. Levine, who previously worked with Morrisey on NBCs The Voice, will serve alongside this team and Chad Hines as executive producer, Deadline reports.

The show is a part of NBCs new summer line-up, which will also include stand-up comedy competition Bring The Funny. The season premiere of Songland will air May 28 on NBC.
