Police rescue woman kidnapped in Delta

A 37-year-old housewife who was kidnapped from her family home in Asaba, Delta State, and spent two days in the kidnapper's den while her family ran around trying to raise the ransom money demanded by the criminals, have been rescued by police detectives in the state.

According to the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Celestina Kalu, the kidnappers had stormed the home of the woman at the back of the NNPC Mega Filling station along the Asaba/Benin Expressway on April 24, 2015, at about 7 pm and abducted the woman while they also stole her husband's Lexus Jeep SUV. The woman was whisked to an unknown destination while the kidnappers put a call to her husband and demanded for a ransom of N10 million.

But luck ran out on the criminals as operatives of the state Dragon Patrol Team, acting on a tip-off, traced the Lexus Jeep to Ezi Village in Aniocha North local government area of the state where the vehicle was found abandoned by the criminals.

The next day, a police patrol team from Onicha-Olona, acting in synergy with local vigilante, rescued the victim from kidnapper’s den located in Obomkpa bush while the kidnappers escaped.
