Initially, Crvena Zvezda requested a postponement of the Eternal Derby, scheduled for April 19th, citing their EuroLeague play-in game on the 21st. Partizan subsequently rejected this request. The club from Mali Kalemegdan then appealed to the ABA League again, hoping they could somehow find a slot in the calendar to reschedule the match. However, it has now been definitively confirmed that this will not happen.
ABA League Sports Director Milija Vojinović explained why the postponement will not occur. His full statement is provided below.
First and foremost, I want to inform you that the schedule for the ABA League TOP 8 phase was published on February 7th, 2026. This schedule was previously agreed upon with proposals from all clubs, including KK Crvena Zvezda. As you are surely aware, the ABA League is the only basketball competition in Europe that does not determine its schedule using Berger tables, but rather through software. This approach facilitates clubs in aligning all European competition dates with their ABA League matches. I must emphasize that, following an oral request from Crvena Zvezda on Saturday, April 11th, to change the match time, which was originally set for 9 PM, we moved the start time to 7:30 PM, considering Zvezda's upcoming EuroLeague commitments. We received the official request for postponement today, two days before the scheduled date. Despite our willingness, we were unable to make any changes because, despite our intensive efforts, there was no agreement from KK Partizan. Therefore, the Eternal Derby will be played as scheduled. Milija Vojinović
Thus, the Eternal Derby is set for Sunday, tipping off at 7:30 PM. Partizan will host Zvezda at the Belgrade Arena in front of their home crowd, with the red-and-whites facing their season-defining EuroLeague match just two days later.
