A Superteam is Forming Around LeBron: Philadelphia's Offseason Isn't Over Yet, Targeting a Former Player and Two Past Championship Teammates

LeBron James's signing has ignited a frenzy in the "City of Brotherly Love." Joining him at the 76ers is former NBA Finals MVP Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics. When you add existing stars like Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and V.J. Edgecombe, it's clear this team has a fantastic foundation and is poised to contend for the top spot.

The roster has also been bolstered by veteran guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Dean Wade from Cleveland, and it's evident that Philadelphia isn't stopping there.

One of their targets is Ben Simmons, who spent the majority of his career with the Pennsylvania team. This news is somewhat surprising given the contentious nature of their previous parting. The 2016 first overall pick had a tumultuous split with Philly in 2022, subsequently playing for the Brooklyn Nets and Los Angeles Clippers. He sat out last season but is now ready for a comeback, potentially returning to where it all began.

Another name recently linked to the team is veteran power forward Kevin Love, who previously won a championship alongside LeBron during their time with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The veteran spent last season with the Utah Jazz, and while his career is winding down, he could still provide valuable contributions off the bench for such a well-rounded squad.

Markieff Morris, a veteran known for his on-court altercation with Nikola Jokic in November 2021, has also offered his services to the 76ers. The "older" Morris twin also won a championship with LeBron in the 2019-20 season with the Los Angeles Lakers.

It remains to be seen who Philadelphia will ultimately choose to fill out a roster that is undoubtedly a championship contender.
