Former IBF welterweight world champion Kell Brook has announced his return to the ring. The 40-year-old boxer, who boasts a record of 40 wins (28 by knockout) and 3 losses, hasn't fought since his victory over long-time rival Amir Khan in February 2022. Brook was initially expected to face Eisa Al Dah in Dubai in an exhibition bout honoring Ricky Hatton. However, that fight fell through, but in the interim, Brook has gotten back into shape and is eager to compete again.

“I’m coming back, big news is coming for a massive fight,” the Englishman told talkSPORT. “Back in the professional ring, licensed by the British Boxing Board of Control, I’m coming out of retirement.”

“I can’t give you any hints about the opponent, but you won’t have to wait long. It will happen this year, almost everything is set. And we’ll give the fans another big fight,” he added.

Brook confirmed he would be fighting at middleweight or super-middleweight. This has fueled speculation that his opponent could be Chris Eubank Jr. – another prominent name in British boxing who is preparing for a comeback after his loss to Conor Benn last year.

When asked if Eubank would be his opponent, Brook responded evasively: “Who knows, who knows?” “Listen, it could be him, who knows? But it will be announced soon. I’m training seven days a week; I’m on another level again right now.”
