Speaking at Fayose's declaration of intent in Abuja on Thursday, September 28, 2017, Fani-Kayode described Fayose as an excellent choice for Nigeria's number one position.

The former minister noted that Fayose has "shown strength in the face of a viciously wicked opposition."

He noted that Fayose would "regain power from an undeserving Muhammadu Buhari-led APC federal government."
