As the online registration for the 2018 batch C stream II ends on Friday, November 9, 2018, the management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the date for the Prospective Corps members orientation course.

The NYSC management has announced on its website that the 2018 Batch C Stream II Orientation Course would begin on November 15, and end on December 5, 2018.

The prospective corps members would spend three weeks at their various NYSC camps after which they would be deployed to their places of primary assignments.

Ebonyi State Government increase allowance to N10k

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Ebonyi State Governor, David Umahi, during his recent visit to the scheme’s orientation camp in Afikpo, promised to increase the corps members’ monthly allowance from N5,000 to N10,000.

The Chairman of the NYSC governing board in the state, Charles Akpuenika announced the proposed increase in the corps members allowance on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, while speaking to NAN correspondents.

The National Youth Service Corps is a one year program for all eligible university, polytechnic and monotechnic graduates in Nigeria.

The NYSC scheme was created in May 1973 as part of the Federal Government's effort to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil war.
