The Super Eagles home-based players were beaten 4-1 on Sunday, September 24 by host Ghana in the final of the 2017 WAFU Cup.
Nigeria had beat Ghana 2-0 in the group stages before the 4-1 loss in the final.
Akwa United midfielder Aremu who was impressive for Nigeria during the WAFU Cup is very disappointed with their loss in the final.
“It is disappointing for us. We are not happy. We have lost when it mattered most and it is painful,” the midfielder on loan at Westerlo FC told .
“We didn’t start the game well and I think we could have done better with the pressure we had in the closing stages of the first half.
“We didn’t start good. Every duel went for them. This was not our best game because we didn’t create chances to get back in the game.”
The Super Eagles Team B will regroup later in the year ahead of the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
