The beach Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire amassed a total nine points from 3 wins in the three games played at the tournament to be crowned champions of 2014 Copa Lagos.
The Ivoirians maintained a 100% record all through the three days for which the tournament held; beating Senegal 6-2 in the first game on Friday, then going on to defeat Nigeria 5-4 on Saturday.
They completed a third straight win with the 9-4 drubbing of Ghana on the last day, Sunday.
The West Africans become the first country other than Nigeria who had the first three, to go home as winners, carting away the prize money of 10,000 dollars.
Nigeria fought hard against their opponents from Senegal to win 5-4 which was enough to earn them second place with 2 wins from three games.
The Senegalese also with the chance to run away runners up brought it all against the Nigerians all through the quarters.
Captain, Isiaka Olawale; Ogbonnaya Okemmiri, Babatunde Badmus, and Emmanuel Ewofheria were on the score sheet for Nigeria and each time any of the teams scored a goal, the other levelled.
So it seemed the game was to head that way until Abu Azeez sealed it for Nigeria in the last 3 minutes of the third quarter.
Senegal came third with three points while Ghana ended the tournament without any point and last on the table.
