Super Eagles goalkeeper Uzoho out of AFCON 2019 qualifier against South Africa
But the 20-year-old goalkeeper has been ruled out of the clash after picking up an injury in Elche’s 1-5 loss to Cadiz on Sunday.
Elche confirmed on their website that the goalkeeper has fractured his costal cartilage which will rule him out for four weeks.
It also means that the goalkeeper will miss Super Eagles friendly against Uganda in Asaba on Tuesday, November 20.
"Injury is part of the game, definitely not the best timing but there are things beyond us. So sad i won’t be there for my teammates for the next 4weeks they’re more than capable to get the job done. Coming back a beast," the goalkeeper said on his Twitter account.
Uzoho has been Super Eagles first-choice goalkeeper since he made his debut in a 4-2 friendly win over Argentina in November 2017.
News of Uzoho’s absence is the latest blow to Rohr who will be without Wilfred Ndidi for the AFCON 2019 qualifier.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria need a point against South Africa to seal their place in next year’s AFCON in Cameroon.
