Businessman to contest Mahama Ayariga in NDC primaries

Hon. Mahama Ayariga is the current MP for Bawku but Alhaji Dori is optimistic of giving him a run for his money

Alhaji Ibrahim Dori, a leading member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed interest to contest for the Bawku Central seat in the party’s upcoming parliamentary and presidential primaries.

Alhaji Ibrahim Dori, a businessman in the Roads and Building construction Industry and MD for I. A. DORI ENT LTD will be battling it out with Hon. Mahama Ayariga for the seat which many believe is the hottest seat in the Upper East Region.

Born in Bawku to late Alhaji Amadu Dori (Baakoomi), the graduate from the University of Ghana intention to contest for the NDC primaries was as result of numerous calls on him by the constituents who believe he can champion the development agenda of the constituency based on his track records and his interest in the welfare of the constituents.

“I will pick nomination form to contest for Bawku Central NDC primaries when the party officially opens nominations come August 27th. My intentions to contest for the seat was as a result of numerous calls from the people especially the youth who have been looking for someone who can unite the people to champion the developmental needs of the constituency and I dare not say no their request,” he said.

Speaking to the mediain Accra yesterday, the graduate from the University of Ghana averred that the people of Bawku had been taken for granted for so long by dishonest politicians and the time had come to see a new leadership style that would have the people at heart.

“l believe the time has come to give Bawku a pragmatic leadership style, leadership that will consider the people first before taking any decisions and am contesting the primaries and give the people what they have been yearning for over the years”.

The Bawku Central seat is one of the seats many believes is a casualty awaiting the NDC in 2016 but Alhaji Dori believes he was motivated by that assertion to take the challenge to ensure that the NDC retains the seat come 2016.

Alhaji Ibrahim Dori debanked any assertion to the effect that he is entering into mainstream politics to amass wealth for himself and family members as others have done over the past years.

“I am not entering politics to make money. By the grace of Allah am well established to take care of myself and my family and I am determined to bring new leadership to the people that will give hope and to inspire my constituents to achieve their goals in life.

Checks at the constituency indicate that Alhaji Dori, is in serious talks with the rank and file of the party in the constituency to win their support ahead of official opening of nominations.

Investigations also indicate that majority of the delegates have declared their support for the young man to bring them the true leadership they want.

Hon. Mahama Ayariga is the current MP for Bawku but Alhaji Dori is optimistic of giving him a run for his money.
