The Appeal Court, on November 18, adjourned Jegede’s case indefinitely due to a series of motions filed to stay proceedings by the Ali Modu Sheriff faction of the PDP.
Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onoghene on Tuesday, November 22, dismissed the motions and awarded a penalty of N250,000 against those who filed them.
Jegede approached the court after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chose Jimoh Ibrahim as the official PDP candidate instead of him.
Ibrahim is the governorship candidate of the Sheriff faction of the PDP while Jegede is the candidate of the Ahmed Makarfi faction.
