The winner of the Anambra State governorship election, Charles Soludo, has vowed to reward the confidence voters had in him to elect him.

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the early hours of Wednesday, November 10, 2021, following a supplementary election.

Soludo, in an acceptance speech, appealed to all relevant stakeholders to support his administration to succeed in Anambra.

The governor-elect hopes contributions from all areas will help him transform the state into an industrial and technology hub for West Africa.

"This victory is your victory. My role will be that of your chief servant, and I will work every minute of the day with you to make you profoundly proud.

"I will need the guidance, advice and contribution of everyone to succeed. Our state is one of infinite possibilities and humungous opportunities," he said.

Soludo first contested for the office in the 2010 election as a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He finished third behind winner Peter Obi and second-placed Chris Ngige.

The former Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor joined the APGA in 2013 but was disqualified from the party's primary election.

His candidacy for the 2021 contest was also tested in court, where he won, after he was initially kept out from the official list of candidates due to an internal crisis.

He noted on Wednesday that his victory 'is a divine journey whose time has come'.

Soludo will wait till March 2022 to be sworn in as governor, replacing incumbent, Willie Obiano.
