INEC recognises Hope Uzodimma as Imo APC guber candidate

This is coming after the INEC published its provisional list which did not carry the name of any APC governorship candidate.

Senator Hope Uzodinma.

This is coming after the INEC published its provisional list which did not carry the name of any APC governorship candidate, according to Punch.

Vanguard reports that INEC published Uzodinma’s name following a decision by a court to strike out a suit filed by the Imo Governor, Rochas Okorocha’s faction.

A source who spoke to the daily also said “Immediately, the court struck out the order by the Okorocha’s faction stopping the name of Senator Uzodimma, from publishing as the candidate of the party.

“The judgement was taken to the National headquarters of INEC, and an order was given that the name of Hope should be pasted immediately.

“When the order came, to INEC in Owerri, the administrative head was not on sit but the legal adviser received the order from the National headquarters and he went on. “They have just acted not as in their own power but according to the power of the court.”

Uzodinma vs Nwosu

According to reports, the APC National Working Committee (NWC) had earlier submitted the name of Senator Uzodinma as the party’s governorship candidate to INEC.

The decision of the party to pick the Senator also caused rancour in the Imo state chapter of the APC, as the state Governor’s son-in-law, Uche Nwosu was dropped by the party’s leadership.

Nwosu has constantly declare that he is the authentic APC governorship candidate in Imo state.

He also revealed that he filed a court order restraining INEC from accepting any other name from the APC other than his name.

The APC NWC had earlier cancelled the governorship primary election which was conducted on October 1, 2018 by the Ahmed Gulak led  Election Committee, which saw Uzodinma emerge as winner.
