2023 Elections: Commander Guards Brigade assures FCT residents of adequate security
Umar gave the assurance when the Operation Monitoring Team from Army Headquarters, led by Maj.-Gen. Yusuf Yahaya visited the Guards Brigade Headquarters on Friday.
The Assistant Director, Army Public Relations for Guards Brigade, Capt. Godfrey Abakpa, made this known in a statement in Abuja.
He said that all officers and personnel had been adequately prepared for the elections in collaboration with sister security agencies.
The commander added that measures had been taken to ensure successful conduct of the elections within the Federal Capital Territory and the environs.
He further assures the AHQ team and the general public of the brigade’s readiness to swiftly respond to any situation that might lead to public disturbance and called on all law abiding citizens to exercise their voting right.
Earlier, the leader of the team and Director, Manpower , Department of Personnel Management (Army), Maj.-Gen. Yahaya, expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation of the brigade ahead of the general elections within its area of responsibility.
He also expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation and deployment of troops, adding that the public would be more confident to exercise their franchise when they feel secured at their various voting locations.
He urged the brigade to remain vigilant so as to avert any election crises that might crop up during or after the exercise.
Yahaya assured the brigade of the Chief of Army Staff’s commitment to a hitch free election within the territory and environs and by extension the entire country.
