Court refused pleas of alleged husband killer, sent her back to prison
A court in Abuja has ordered that the alleged husband killer should remain in prison as her pleas were not taken in court.

Sanda whose mother is the former Executive Director of Aso Savings and Loans, Hajiya Maimuna Aliyu Sanda, had, on Sunday, November 19, 2017, reportedly stabbed her husband, Bilyaminu Bello, the son of Alhaji Halliru Bello, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP], to death during a quarrel after she saw a text message on his phone sent by another woman.
Daily Trust reports that Chief Daudu, a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association [NBA], had asked the court to listen to the bail application he filed on Sanda's behalf but the court refused to take the plea and ordered her return to the prison pending her re-arraignment on Thursday, December 14.

The FCT Police Command had previously arraigned Sanda on a two-count charge bordering on murder and culpable homicide on November 24, where she pleaded not guilty to the charges and the judge ordered that she should be remanded in the Suleja Prisons till December 7.
However, at the resumed hearing, the police prosecutor, CSP James Idachaba informed the court that an amended charge has been filed before the court where Sanda's mother, Hajia Aliyu, has been added as defendant together with two others.
CSP Idachaba, however, said all efforts to serve the charge on her mother had proven abortive, asking the court to adjourn the matter to December 14 to enable the police to bring all the witnesses to court so they can take their pleas together.

The trial judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu, ruled in favour of the prosecutor and said the bail would be taken after the re-arraignment.
Chief Daudu orally pleaded with the judge to release Sanda on bail pending the adjourned date, claiming that the conditions of the prison were unhealthy for her six-month-old baby.
"It is unfortunate that a life has been lost already, but we should not take more lives," Chief Daudu said.
But Justice Halilu held that he is not disposed to grant the oral bail application since issues have been joined on the formal application for bail.

"The defendant, in the meantime, shall be returned to the prisons pending Thursday, December 14," Justice Halilu insisted.
