During the meeting, Jonathan appreciated Buhari for naming a railway complex after him.

“Let me use this opportunity to commend Mr. President publicly. It’s a good gesture. I appreciate it, I thank Mr President and the Minister of Transportation,” Jonathan said.

In his remarks, President Buhari said: "Today I received a comprehensive report from the ECOWAS Special Envoy to Mali, former President Goodluck Jonathan, on the political situation in the country. Regarding the way forward, we will ask the President of Niger, who is the Chairman of ECOWAS, to brief us as a group."
