Mr Solomon Olusupo, the State Commandant of the Corps, disclosed this on Thursday during the passing-out parade of the guards.

Olusupo said that the NSCDC which was saddled with the responsibility of training private guards operatives organised the training with the aim of giving the best to the society in terms of grass root security.

He said the exercise was also aimed at ridding the state of incompetent private security guards.

“We have zero tolerance for not well trained security guards, this training will enable the guards perform their duties optimally,’’ he said.

Olusupo said that the training was mandatory, urging private guards companies to ensure that they sent their staff whenever training was organised “in order not to incur the wrath of the NSCDC”.

The commandant explained that the two-week intensive training involved physical training, parade drills aimed at instilling discipline, loyalty and unity in the guards and lectures on basic guards training.

He cautioned the newly-trained guards to desist from engaging in social vices, which he said would be detrimental to their calling.

Olusupo also cautioned members of the public against hiring private security guards whose companies were not registered by the NSCDC.
