EFCC opposes PDP chieftain's request to travel abroad

Metuh's lawyer, Mr Onyeachi Ikpeazu (SAN), told the court that his client’s health is deteriorating, adding that he needed urgent treatment.

 

Metuh sought an order from the court to mandate the EFCC to give him his passport so he can travel to the United Kingdom.

The PDP chieftain’s lawyer, Mr Onyeachi Ikpeazu (SAN), told the court that his client’s health is deteriorating, adding that he needed urgent treatment.

Counsel to the EFCC, Mr Sylvanus Tahir, however opposed the application, urging the court to throw it out.

Tahir argued that Metuh has not shown any document that will lead to the granting of his request.

He also claimed that the medical documents presented by Mutuh’s legal team was allegedly not certified. Tahir however added that there are hospitals in Nigeria that could treat Metuh’s ailment very well.

Olisa Metuh is standing trial for allegedly receiving N400m from former President Goodluck Jonathan.

The money is said to be part of the $15b meant for purchasing arms for the military.
