4 health workers kidnapped

Several health workers administering Polio vaccine in one Local Government in Kaduna have been kidnapped.

The workers, according to residents, were kidnapped on Thursday, 17 March, 2016 in Gazamari village.

The workers identified to be ad-hoc staff supervising the routine Polio immunization exercise in Gwagwada, according to locals, were kidnapped by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

Speaking to Pulse, a resident of the area, Jim Gadami said the community has been thrown into confusion following the incident.

“Gwagwada is facing a lot of security threat. Apart from the recent kidnapping, gunmen always storm the community and kill at will. We want the government to come to our rescue” he said.

“The wicked act of these Fulani herdsmen in Chikun Local Government Area is irksome, irritating and agonizing, as this is not the first time report of kidnapping and asking for ransom is been reported. One would have expected to hear a Press Statement or briefing on the kidnap of innocent citizens and the efforts put in place by the government to rescue them and in curbing the reoccurrence of this wicked act” Gadami added.

The police in Kaduna could not immediately comment. The Police Command is yet to issue an official statement concerning the incident as at the time of filing this report.
