Residents of Dutse constituency in Dutse local government area of Jigawa State beat up and imprisoned the council chairman, Bala Yargaba, on Monday, July 9, 2018.

According to a report by Premium Times, the angry mob accused the council chief of non-payment of polling unit development fund meant for disbursement.

After the initial attack, Yargaba was able to escape into the local government secretariat, leading to the mob barricading the building to lock the chairman in before security officials arrived on the scene.
