President orders dismantling of military checkpoints nationwide

President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the dismantling of military checkpoints around the country.

This was disclosed on Monday, June 22, 2015, by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, Aliyu Ismail, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Details as regards the directive are currently scanty hence it’s unclear if it’ll also apply to checkpoints in the troubled North-East.

Buhari is currently meeting with Nigeria’s service chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
