Mobile courts convict 500 people over traffic violations

Operation Velvet carried out by the Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSc), more has resulted in the conviction of 500 traffic offenders.

Edo state has just carried out a successful 'Operation Velvet.'

In an interview with newsman, the Executive Director of Tax Compliance, EIRS, Prince Felix Isuku, announced that these traffic offenders were arraigned and convicted before 10 mobile courts.

Their violations included cases of fake drivers licence, expired motorcycle and vehicle particulars, over loading, expired and non-possession of fire extinguishers, tinted and covered number plates.

Isuku noted that the exercise revealed that most drivers have expired vehicle particulars and fake drivers' licenses.

He urged them to take advantage of the one-stop-shop for vehicle registration and designated driver licence data capturing centres across the state.
