5 foods to include in your keto diet plan

A keto diet is a low carb, high fat, and moderate protein diet that offers many health benefits.

Keto diet plan focuses on foods that provide a lot of healthy fats, an adequate amount of protein, and very few carbohydrates. This plan drastically reduces carbohydrate intake and replaces it with fats.

This places your body in a metabolic state called ketosis where the body burns fats and breaks them down into molecules called ketones for energy instead of breaking carbs into glucose which is the normal way the body generates energy.

Keto diet offers lots of health benefits including healthy weight loss, reduction in acne, reduced risk of type 2 diabetes and many more.

To maintain a keto diet plan, you need to know the foods you can eat. Here are some foods to include in your keto diet plan:

1. Cheese

Cheese is very low in carbohydrates, and very high in fat, making it a great fit for a ketogenic diet. It contains an adequate amount of protein and calcium.

There are different types of cheese you can include in your diet- blue cheese, brie, cheddar, goat cheese, cream cheese, etc.

2. Meat

Fresh meat contain no carbs, they are rich in vitamins B and also a great source of high-quality protein. Meat are considered ketogenic diet staples.

It is better to go for grass-fed meat like goat meat, cow meat, etc as they contain healthy fat.

3. Avocado

Avocados are rich in monosaturated fat, a healthy type of fat when eaten in moderation. It is also a great source of fibre and a wide array of vitamins, and minerals. It contains minimal protein and is another keto-friendly food.

4. Eggs

Eggs are high in protein, B vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Eggs contains zero carbs which makes them ideal for a keto diet. In addition, eggs have been found to trigger hormones that increase fullness.

It is important to eat whole eggs rather than egg whites alone since most of an egg's nutrients are found in the yoke. Although they contain cholesterol, eggs don't appear to cause any harm.

5. Unsweetened plant-based milk

Several varieties of plant-based milk like soy, almond, and coconut milk are keto-friendly. The unsweetened option of this plant-based milk does not contain sugar which makes them appropriate for keto diet.
