Coinciding with Mo Abudu's 60th birthday, Lagos Canvas marked a significant milestone in her 20-year journey of elevating Nigerian culture on the global stage. The event reflected Abudu's ongoing mission to support and promote the arts, offering a prestigious platform for both established and emerging Nigerian talent.
The event featured an art exhibition curated by Soto Gallery, presenting contemporary artworks that captured the essence of Lagos. Trace TV curated live music performances, including a showcase by artist Nonso Bassey. A fashion show, organized by Marie Claire Nigeria, displayed the latest collections from leading and upcoming Lagos-based designers. Additionally, groundbreaking Nigerian films were screened, curated by Temidayo Makanjuola and Isioma Osaje in partnership with EbonyLife Films.
Key attendees included host Will Stevens, Consul General of the United States, and special guest Mrs. Toke Benson Awoyinka, Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Lagos State. The event also welcomed various creative industry titans, including actors, singers, visual artists, and content creators, alongside VIP guests from Lagos' business and social communities.
The Bank of Industry, Providus Bank, and Moet Hennessy generously sponsored this cultural showcase.
As Mo Abudu enters a new decade of her life, she envisions Lagos Canvas as a global initiative extending beyond Nigeria. Her goal is to bring the best of Lagos' music, film, fashion, and art to audiences worldwide, continuing her legacy of showcasing Nigerian culture on an international stage.
"Lagos Canvas is a celebration of our city's vibrant creative spirit," said Mo Abudu. "It's my hope that this event will inspire and uplift our talented artists, while also showcasing the richness of Nigerian culture to the world."
