Readers say they will accept a spouse’s love child

58% of Pulse Nigeria Poll voters say they will accept a love child their spouse hid from them for 25 years if he had a very good reason for doing so.

This worried woman needs advice

But she was rudely shocked when she found out that Peter had been hiding a 25-year-old son from her during the burial of her late father in-law.

What would her reaction be like?

Read her story here:

"My name is Melvina and I have been married for 18 years with five children but little did I know that my husband Peter, had a 25-year-old love child he had been hiding from me.

What makes the revelation so painful is that the child is male and that automatically knocks off my own son as the first male in the family.

When I got married to Peter, he never told me he had a child, not that I would have minded because I was so much in love with him.

All through the years, he never told me he had a child somewhere and members of his family also kept quiet about it till I got to know two months ago when we all went to the village for the final burial of his father.

After the ceremony, the family decided to share the properties left behind by their father and we all were gathered together to partake in the sharing.

It was when it got to our turn that the eldest man in the family mentioned that my husband’s first son should be recognized before my son.

I was surprised at the statement and questioned if there was any first son apart from my own son and that was when the bombshell was dropped that a young man I saw being very active during the burial was Peter’s first son.

I was really shocked at the revelation and stormed out of the meeting and went to my room. Later, my husband came and tried to explain that he did not tell me about the boy because he did know how I would take it.

He has been begging me since then but I am sure if I can ever forgive him for the deceit and shame he brought to me.

What should I do?

Melvina.”
