A Denver woman's Facebook post is going viral after she said a local restaurant refused to serve a homeless customer.
Restaurant embarrass homeless man after customer offered to buy him food
Restaurant goes viral after it refused to serve a homeless man after a customer offered to buy his dinner.
Vanessa Varona was eating dinner at Taqueria Mexico on West Colfax Avenue on Thursday night when a homeless man came inside looking for a hot meal.
Ms Varona told him to order whatever he wanted and said she would pay his bill.
However the staff ordered the homeless man to leave the moment he sat down.
‘Here comes a waitress and basically stood him up and said no you can’t sit down here,’ Ms Varona told KDVR.
‘I said no! He is human just like us and you will not treat him any different.’
Ms Varona said she then asked the man to join her family at their booth.
A Staff member of the restaurant Adiel Estrada said the man was asked to leave the establishment because he was drunk – not because he was homeless.
Ms Varona said, however, that when a friend spoke to the owner of the restaurant, she was informed that it was not Taqueria Mexico’s policy to allow customers to buy food for the homeless.
